Stephen Jones

Stephen is a local historian, has been a Member of the Friends of the Midland Hotel, Slyne with Hest Local History Society and Member of the Friends. He has also served on Slyne with Hest Parish Council for twenty-five years and worked as a Manager in the Charity sector. Stephen is one of our Tour Guides.

Garry is our Digital Co-Ordinator and looks after our Social Media on behalf of the Preservation Trust. He spent his entire career in banking working in branches, as a trainer with a strong emphasis on customer service and in the bank’s internal IT Help Desk. He is passionate about theatre and is one of our volunteers along with his partner. Garry is a keen motorcyclist and enjoys gardening and theatre. He also has a 4 year old German Shepherd called Zak. 

lesley guise

Although not Morecambe born and bred, Lesley has lived and worked in the area since 1976 and come to know and love it well. She was a founder member of the Friends of the Midland Hotel, helping to save one of Morecambe’s iconic buildings. Now part of the Winter Gardens, team she hopes that it too can have a successful future at the heart of the community. Lesley looks after our Winter Gardens Memberships.

barry guise

A retired Geography lecturer, Barry has worked in the area since the early 1970s. He was a founder member and Treasurer of the Friends of the Midland Hotel which campaigned successfully for the re-opening of the Winter Gardens’ close neighbour. He has written a book about the hotel and, with Lesley, an illustrated history of Bolton-le-Sands, the village where they live. He is keen to make a contribution towards the continuing restoration of the historic Winter Gardens theatre. Barry produces our Newsletter.

fiona hudson

Being part of the Winter Gardens she feels blessed every day to be working along side some wonderful people in a magnificent building. Fiona has been in the hospitality business for many many years, as a chef, assistant manager and currently working in the Holiday Ownership Industry as European Trainer. She loves the theatre, classic movies of the silver screen and Elvis Presley. Fiona is our Volunteer Co-Ordinator and also helps with our Paranormal Events and Ghost Nights.

iain wallace

Iain trained as a Theatrical Costumier and has always had a passionate interest in all things theatre related. Iain worked making costumes for many years in a number of repertory theatres in the North West.
He is a keen motorcyclist with his partner and enjoys gardening. Iain will be looking after our Bar.

PETER WADE

Peter is a local historian and author of pamphlets on the history of Morecambe. As a long time tour Co-Ordinator and volunteer at the Winter Gardens Peter has overseen many of the tours of the building and raised over £100,000 through the paranormal events over the last decade. His knowledge of the building and history of Morecambe is very comprehensive and he can also be seen on our virtual tour.
