Have you seen our Online Tour?
During lockdown we were working hard behind the scenes to create a movie covering the amazing history of Morecambe Winter Gardens. This taster version is to wet your appetite for the full movie we launched on Monday 8th March 2021.
The Virtual Tour of the Winter Gardens Theatre was funded through a Marketing Lancashire Covid Business Support Grant and has enabled us to explore new ways of income revenue during the period the theatre was closed. Your guides are Professor Vanessa Toulmin, Professor of Early Film and Popular Entertainment at the University of Sheffield and Chair of the Morecambe Winter Gardens Preservation Trust and Peter Wade, long time fundraiser, supporter and local historian who has actively raised over £100,000 over the past twenty years for the theatre. All proceeds go towards our continuous charitable goal, to restore and regenerate our marvellous Grade II*listed Victorian theatre, one of only thirty theatres of this designation in England and Wales. We hope it will encourage you to visit our beautiful theatre situated on the seafront of Morecambe Bay or to take seat from the comfort of your home and explore a venue once called the Albert Hall of the North.
The Online Tours costs £5. This helps towards our monthly running costs of £4,500

Morecambe Winter Gardens, with its prestigious auditorium, is available to hire.
In 1982, seating from the Grand Circle was sold and presumed lost forever. Forty years later, these unique chairs were rediscovered and offered back to the theatre.
We are now pausing our sponsorship scheme until we know how many of the remaining seats we are able to install.
