Want to do your bit for Morecambe?
The Friends of the Winter Gardens are responsible for keeping the building and its memories alive, and anyone wanting to be a part of the venue’s future is encouraged to get in touch.
Though they’ve been in existence for over three decades, it wasn’t until 2006 that The Friends of the Winter Gardens purchased the building with one aim: to keep the fire burning at one of Morecambe’s brightest venues.
Chaired by Evelyn Archer, the Friends quickly formed a Preservation Trust to protect the building and its rich heritage. Now concentrating her time on looking after the building, Evelyn works hard to introduce a new generation of Friends as and when the opportunity arises. Of course, the group is always looking for new members and Evelyn is more than happy to send them details.
Want to get involved and join over 200 (and counting!) Friends? Simply pop into the Winter Gardens and pick up a membership form. Once you’re a member, you could be called upon to help out as and when you’re available. You’ll also receive a regular newsletter or email to keep you updated in terms of all the exciting goings on at the venue. You’ll be invited to attend the annual AGM, so you can have your say!
There is a modest membership cost: £12 for individuals, £18 for families, or £8 for senior citizens, which goes a long way to raise even more vital funds for the venue.
