Why Support Us?
We’d love you to get involved (in absolutely any way you can) to help us in not simply preserving the iconic Winter Gardens but allowing it to thrive. There are plenty of ways you can do your bit and here are just a few:
Take a tour
One of the most fun ways to support us and the work we’re doing is by getting along to The Winter Gardens and enjoying one of our tours. An enjoyable experience for anyone with an interest in theatre or architecture, the tours take place on Sundays from 1pm to 4pm.
Alternatively, pop into the venue on Saturday nights – from 7pm until late – unless we’re hosting a private function. You’ll learn more about the history of the building, as well as who’s performed here. Lucky visitors also have the opportunity to go backstage and see the dressing room, or head into the royal box. Our tea and coffee area is open and there’s a licensed bar available on request too.
Become a Friend
Want to meet new people and do your bit for this Morecambe landmark? The Friends of the Winter Gardens are responsible for keeping the building and its memories alive, and anyone wanting to be a part of the venue’s future is encouraged to get in touch.
We’re always looking for people who are keen to give up their time (in the day or during the evening) to a worthy, volunteer-led cause like ours. The rewards for working in such a renowned building like the Winter Gardens are many; you’ll be helping to keep the spirit of the property well and truly alive, while meeting a friendly group who’ll make you feel part of something really special.
Join our restoration group
The Winter Gardens relies on the goodwill of those who believe in what we’re trying to achieve here. Our volunteers sell refreshments at the weekends via our bar, while a retired group of men lovingly nicknamed ‘Dad’s Army’ offer their time to restore the building when and where it needs it.
The Trust’s key aims include:
- Protecting The Winter Gardens to ensure future generations can enjoy the venue
- To refurbish the theatre in keeping with its Grade II* Listed building status
- To reopen the theatre as a multipurpose venue run as a charitable enterprise
With your help, we can achieve all these key aims and more.
We operate as a charity and are in existence as a result of generous and continued donations. Please see our Donation page to find out more.
